Journeys in the Mists
You died. Your soul reached the Shadowfell, but did not move on to its final fate. Instead, your soul was drawn out of the streams of fate and brought before the throne of the Raven Queen, who offered you life, but life on her terms.
A Life Forgotten
You have returned, but you are changed. You have only the faintest memories of your old life, and your appearance has changed so former loved ones no longer know you. This is the Raven Queen’s doing; relationships are a distraction to your mission.
A New Creature
You do not resemble your old self. Your skin is pale and the backs of your hands and forearms have black, scaly skin like the feet of a bird. Your eyes are black orbs with red pupils, and your face has become a still, almost emotionless mask.
An Agent of Death
You are now her agent, conscripted into her army to accomplish a task, and when your task is done, you will die again. Are you a willing agent, a devoted servant of the Queen? Or do you feel that you made a fools bargain, and hope one day to break free of the bonds of service, defy death, and reclaim your life in truth.
Ability Scores: Increase your Dexterity Score by 2 and your Constitution score by 1.
Age: Revenants are made, not born. You reentered the world from the Shadowfell fully grown, and you will die when your task is done, though your body can be killed prematurely.
Alighnment: Most Revenants are neutral, though some cling to the good or evil of their original life. Most are lawful as they are bound to the Raven Queen, but some fight against this compulsion and are chaotic.
Size: Revenants are tall and slim between 5 and a half and 6 and a half feet tall and weighting between 120 and 160 pounds. Your size is medium.
Speed: 30 feet.
Lowlight Vision: You see perfectly in dim light.
Languages: Common and 1 other.
Fear the Reaper: You gain proficiency in Intimidation.
Undead Traits: You are immune to disease, poison, and necrotic damage. You do not sleep, but must meditate for four hours to regain abilities that refresh after a long rest. You do not need to eat or drink except as you choose to.
Unnatural Vitality: When reduced to 0 or fewer hit points, you do not fall unconscious. You may continue to act, though all attacks and checks you make (except death saves) have disadvantage. You may still be killed through sufficient further damage or failed death saves. Once restored to above 0 hp, you act as normal again.
Dark Reaping: Revenants are empowered to syphon death energy from creatures who have died nearby or who are near death. When a creature within 30 feet is reduced to 0 or fewer hit points, you may add 1d6 necrotic damage to your next attack. You must complete a short rest before using this ability again.
