Journeys in the Mists
There are evil deities who seek to cause death, or misuse the dead to create undead. This domain represents the servant of a deity like the Raven Queen, who presides over the cycle of life and death, and whose task is to see that the cycle works as it should.
Death Domain Spells
1 False Life, Protection from Good/Evil
3 Gentle Repose, Scorching Ray
5 Speak with Dead, Spirit Guardians
7 Death Ward, Banishment
9 Dispel Evil/Good, Raise Dead
When you select this domain at 1st level, you gain the Detect Evil/Good cantrip if you don’t already know it.
1st level: Consecrated: Radiant power arcs out of you as the vile creature dares lay hands on the servant of your god!
You can rebuke attackers. When an undead creature within 5 feet of you that you can see, hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to cause the creature and all other undead within 5 feet of you or the creature who hit you to make a Wisdom saving throw. The creatures take 2d8 radiant damage on a failed saving through, or half on a success.
You can use this feature a number of times per day equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once). You regain your expended uses after a long rest.
_ 2nd level: Channel Divinity: Improved Turning:_ When using the Turn Undead channeling, your range is doubled and undead in the area of effect have disadvantage on their Wis. roll. to resist.
6th level: Dead to Rest: Beginning at 6th level, when the Death cleric effects undead with the Destroy Undead ability, creatures are effected at the next highest CR on the chart. (a 6th level cleric destroys undead 1CR or lower, at 8th level the cleric destroys 2 or lower, etc…)
8th level: Divine Strike: You can infuse your weapon with divine energy. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can cause the attack to deal and extra 1d8 radiant damage to the target. When you reach 14th level, the extra damage increases to 2d8.
17th level: Vision of the Past: You can call up visions of the past that relate to an object you hold or your immediate surroundings. You spend at least 1 minute in meditation and prayer, then receive dreamlike, shadowy glimpses of recent events. You can meditate in this way for a number of minutes equal to your wisdom score and must maintain concentration during that time, as if you were casting a sell. Once you use this feature you cannot use it again until after you finish a short or long rest.
- Object Reading: Holding an object as you meditate, you can see visions of the object’s previous owner. After 1 minute, you learn how the owner acquired and lost the object, as well as the most recent significant event involving the object and the owner. If the object was owned by another creature in the recent past (within a number of days equal to your wisdom score), you can spend 1 additional minute for each owner to learn the same information about that creature.
- Area Reading: As you meditate, you see visions of recent events in your immediate vicinity (a room, street, tunnel, clearing, etc, up to a 50-foot cube), going back a number of days equal to your wisdom score. For each minute you meditate, you learn about one significant event, beginning with the most recent. Significant events typically involve powerful emotions, such as battles and betrayals, marriages and murders, births and funerals. However, they might also include more mundane events that are nevertheless important.
